The weeks and months leading up to your boudoir session is the perfect time to ramp up the self care routine. I don’t know about you but I am a sucker for things that help my body relax and feels it’s best, this includes a massage and a good skin care regimen. So I wanted to list 5 ways to prepare for your Boudoir session that me and my ladies love to do to shower themselves with some self care that really enhances their boudoir experience.

Skin Care Self Love Prep

This is SUPER important! You need to take good care of your skin and if you aren’t doing it already you need to start the day you book your session! This starts with water, you should be drinking lots of water to keep your skin hydrated and supple. Next this is the time to implement a weekly or bi weekly exfoliate for your face, as well as plenty of lotion (make sure you use the right lotion for your face AND your body!).

Body Care Self Love for your Boudoir Session

As equally important as face care and hydration, you need to take care of other areas too. Like shaving and waxing (don’t do either the day or or before your session as it can leave your skin noticeably irritated in your photos). You should also take care to do no tanning of any kind within 5 days of your session (you’ll look orange in your photos and I can’t photo shop that haha!). Also, Boudoir is like a super fun workout, start spending a few minutes each day to stretch your body to keep it limber.

Mental Love Self Care

My personal favorite part of self care for your boudoir session in the mental love category! I want you to start looking in the mirror every freaking day and say you love yourself! Yes this sounds super corny but it starts making such a mental shift! You have to say your name and you need to look yourself in they eyes (for example “I love you Rebecca, you are amazing!”). It’s also important to relax you mind and your body, keep stress out of your life as much as possible. Do things that bring mental relaxation, like listening to music, or doing an art of some kind. And finally, book yourself a massage or two! I never feel so relaxed as when I’m getting a massage!

Packing for your session

Find your outfits and try them on ahead of time! Remove your tags and pack everything you want to bring in a tote! Don’t forget any fun accessories and shoes too! Then you can just keep your little to go bag either in the closet or toss in your trunk.

Mani Pedi for your boudoir session? Yes PLEASE!

Finally, if you are wanting to do a little last minute pamper for yourself, get a mani pedi the day before your session! Stick with neutral colors as we want them to accent your beauty not steal the show!
